Plant Phenotyping-Genotyping Data Management Workshop

Plant phenotyping research has gone through a data revolution with the automation of plant phenotyping platforms, making it critical to adopt good data management practices in order the exploit the torrent of data to its full potential. Concretely, data should be published in a Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable (FAIR) way in order to enable the integration of data from disparate sources and the discovery of new knowledge. Yet, this is one of the more challenging domains to standardize, as it is extremely heterogeneous in terms of experimental settings and types of data.

Forum BioData.pt: Value Creation for Healthcare System’s Genomic Data

Forum BioData.pt: Value Creation for Healthcare System’s Genomics Data will join experts from healthcare, research, bioinformatics and data management, and ethics fields to share and discuss their views and their institutions priorities towards data management and the creation of value for citizens and society. There will be time to engage with the panel of experts to share your ideas and concerns.

An Introduction to Data Management @ CCMAR

Understanding data management in a research environment is becoming increasingly important as national and European infrastructures promote ERA-wide Open Science policies. At present EU funding agencies require researchers to provide a Data Management Plan; a requirement that is likely to be standard at the national level in the near future. So what are the responsibilities of publicly-funded researchers with respect to scientific data? This course will introduce (meta) data types, how they are managed in an Open Science research environment, and how to comply with FAIR data principles. The course will also discuss what computational resources and expertise are available to researchers.
