The sixth edition of our BioData.pt Talks was held online on the last Wednesday, March 24th, to an audience of 38 participants.

During this session, we had the pleasure of having Hanne Elsen, Data Protection Officer at the University of Ghent, who gave us an insight regarding the application of the General Data Protection Regulation in research especially when involving health data. She highlighted basic principles for processing this type of data in a research context namely in terms of lawfulness, fairness & transparency, data minimisation, purpose limitation, integrity & confidentiality, storage limitation, accuracy and accountability.

We would like to thank all participants for their interest and particularly Hanne for her availability in presenting her experience in this increasingly emerging topic.
