Summary of work program: BioData.pt (http://biodata.pt/) is the Portuguese distributed infrastructure for biological data, that has been included in FCT’s Infrastructure Road Map. This infrastructure aims to be the national bioinformatics network, and to manage the Portuguese node of the ESFRI ELIXIR (European Life Sciences Infrastructure for Biological Information). Twelve partners participate in this network each with a specific aim. IBMC (together with IGC) is supposed to help developing simple to use software that greatly help the scientific community with the task of analysing large quantities of sequence data, as well as provide some support to the scientific community under well-defined research contracts.
