Did you know that BioData.pt was actively involved in a clinical study that intended to link Vitamin D levels with COVID19 disease severity?
VITACOV (Vitamin D-related polymorphisms and vitamin D levels as risk biomarkers of COVID-19 infection severity) was a project led by the Centro Cardiovascular da Universidade de Lisboa in collaboration with HeartGenetics and other health and research organizations where BioData.pt was asked to contribute with the provision of an electronic case report form (eCRF).
The project allowed the researchers to conclude that the Portuguese population has a higher prevalence than the European mean regarding some genetic alterations that lead to a predisposition of vitamin D deficit and that may consequently lead to more aggressive forms of COVID-19.
