cork Cork Oak has significant relevance in the Mediterranean at both economic and ecological levels due to the sustainable production of cork. The Cork Oak Genome Database Portal (CorkOakDB) emerged, in January 2018, as a joint effort to create a global repository of genomic data for Quercus suber and to serve as a founding platform to boost further research into this species.

Casa de Exercícios de Santo Inácio, in Praia Grande, was the scenario chosen for days full of reunions, presentations from associates and formal and informal collective discussions. Many topics lead to moments of very fruitful discussions.

Noémia Afonso was a distinguished member of the ELIXIR Portugal (BioData.pt) Science Advisory Board and in this capacity she was contributing with her experience and guidance to the excellence of this Research Infrastructure.
