“Ready for BioData Management?: Data Stewardship for Life Sciences Training Program” | DS Consolidation Course 2022

BioData.pt | ELIXIR Portugal, in collaboration with several other organizations, namely ELIXIR Netherlands and ELIXIR Sweden, has designed a program to train the first generation of Data Stewards for the Life Sciences, in order to support the implementation of data management, open science and FAIR data principles in Portuguese R&I organizations. It will unfold from February to November 2022, allowing trainees to get some practice and consolidate the acquired knowledge. It will comprise an introductory module covering the basic concepts of Data Stewardship followed by three assignments and end with a hands-on course for knowledge consolidation.

DS Consolidation Course 2022

The Training Data Stewards for Life Sciences Program started with an Introductory Course, which occurred online in two modules (the first one on the 21st and 22nd of February 2022, from 09:30 to 16:00 GMT; the second one on the 7th and 8th of March 2022, from 09:30 to 16:00 GMT).

It continued with DS Lab 1, on the 11th of April, 2022, in which trainees presented the work carried out in the first assignment, and it proceeded with DS Lab 2, on the 20th of June, 2022, in which trainees presented the work carried out in the second assignment.

The final DS Consolidation Course, of intermediate level, will take place on November 15th-17th, 2022, at the Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência.

The final Consolidation Course of the Training Data Stewards for Life Sciences Program is a deep dive across the stages of the data life cycle, discussing the data management aspects that should be addressed in each and featuring practical exercises. The course will draw upon the knowledge gathered in the RDMkit.
